While they are definitely not for everyone, bridal sessions can be helpful for many reasons! Bridal sessions began as a way to capture a portrait of the bride dressed in her gown that would be hung in the home of her father and mother for years to come. Traditionally, wealthy families would have a portrait painted of the bride weeks before her wedding to not only have as a family heirloom, but to put it on display day of the wedding. Clearly, bridal portraits (or bridals) have come a long way since then. These days I recommend bridals for a few reasons: peace of mind, artistic freedom, and fun!

A bridal session is the perfect time to not only test your hair, makeup, and flowers, but see your entire look come together. Yes, it is totally normal to have a hair and makeup trial, but not often do you get to see the entire look together with your dress and flowers, AND see how it photographs. Bridals give you the perfect chance to figure out what you absolutely love and what could be tweaked before the big day.
It's also the perfect time to break in those wedding shoes and get used to moving in your dress!
Artistic freedom...
While I know it is not a concern for everyone, for those who want a more whimsical and creative vibe for their bridals, a separate bridal session is the perfect time to create that. Of course, I always do whatever I can to make the bride's vision come to life within the time allotted on her wedding day. However, if you are a bride who cares about the aesthetics, a bridal session just might be perfect for you.
A bridal session gives us plenty of time to solely focus on you and your vision without the pressure of a wedding day timeline and the family photos that we are running late for. With the wide range of variables that are present on a wedding day, it can be tricky for you, the bride, to be 100% at ease and comfortable taking your time in front of the camera. A separate bridal session removes all the stress. It's just fun and carefree! These are memories worth preserving forever and I absolutely love when I get to capture them as authentically as possible!

The final (and my personal fav) reason to book a bridal session is because they are just so much fun! Your time as a bride only lasts so long. So why not soak in every single moment doing every bridal activity possible! My favorite bridal sessions are the ones where the bride brings her closest friends with her. There is nothing better than having your favorite people there to hype you up during your session! It also gives you the perfect excuse for a girls day with your bridesmaids.
